On a recent trip to New York City, Jeff Wigbels and his wife, Tiffany, found themselves in a Manhattan art gallery considering the purchase of a rather pricey painting. As they debated their decision, a man in the gallery approached them to offer a piece of advice: “Never buy anything you don’t love,” he said.
Tiffany struck up a conversation with the man and soon discovered that he was Jamali, the world-renowned mystical expressionist – and the owner of the gallery. The conversation turned from art to causes to cancer, and Jeff’s story resonated with Jamali, who had been contemplating a philanthropic project of his own.
Jamali graciously offered his partnership, donating event space in his four galleries and half of the proceeds from the sale of 50 pieces of art to the Take Aim at Cancer Research Fund. The other half of the proceeds will benefit Jamali’s foundation. The friendship forged on that day in New York has led to a partnership that celebrates the messages of art and peace conveyed through Jamali’s life work.
