Debbie Fitzgerald first heard about Jeff when he received the “Making Cancer History” award from MD Anderson in May 2010. She was moved by his determination and dedication to live life fully despite his diagnosis, and to educate others about how they, too, could fight cancer with the help of the groundbreaking research taking place at MD Anderson.
Prior to meeting Jeff, Debbie didn’t personally know anyone who had been affected by cancer. But she did know that she could use her media relations and communications experience to help Jeff share his story of strength and hope. Since then, a loved one of Debbie’s has been diagnosed with cancer, so she is experiencing firsthand how the disease can impact lives—and now she is more passionate than ever about helping Take Aim at Cancer raise funds and create awareness about targeted cancer therapy.
