We’ve entered a new era in cancer treatment with greater potential for rapid progress than any time since the war on cancer was declared in 1971. The groundwork of laboratory research and clinical studies, with more than 10 new agents studied in the past 10 years, is in place and already producing results in the lung cancer program, making the lung cancer clinic at M. D. Anderson a patient’s first choice and greatest place of hope.
Philanthropic support for the core group of highly specialized, experienced researchers at work in the BATTLE program will help us begin to realize the potential of personalized medicine for lung cancer patients.
